  1. Hi there,

The difficulty with credit card debt is that it can take so long to pay it off that you just get almost bored and spend again. Most people find it hard to live within their means and not get further into debt or back into debt.

I can recommend starting to buy everything with cash - I'm telling you, when you see those bills going through your fingers you will really cut back on your spending! It's far too easy to spend money you don't have with a credit card.

You have to get rid of your credit card debt. Either get a consolidation loan or consolidate your cards to ones with zero or low rates of interest. Once you have done this you MUST get rid of your old cards - cut them up and destroy them otherwise you will be tempted to spend on them again and get into even more serious problems.

You really can get out of credit card debt but it is going to require some discipline and self control and maybe even a five year plan, but once you are out of debt you will feel a new found sense of freedom!

Hope that helps, but please let me know if you need any more info :)

  2. They have every right to harass you until payment is made or you file bankruptcy.

  3. Your rights are that you don't have to answer the phone when they call and you can tear up any dunning letters they send you.

What they can do depends on your credit card agreement.  Typical things that can happen are: immediately increase your interest rate to a higher rate, charge late fees, put restrictions on your account, reduce your available credit, report the late payment to credit reporting bureau's; which will reduce your credit score immediately.  I would recommend that you make every effort possible to bring your account current i.e., pay up.  I would call the card company and ask that your fees (all or some) be waived if you bring your account current.

  4. You really don't have a lot of rights, you do owe them money, you haveseverall options. You can make re payment arrangements with them or just ignore their calls, they can not call you after 9pm ar before 8am and they can not call your work if you tell them not to you, they also can not threaten you but they can call and ask for you to pay them back

  5. Just like with loans, credit card companies have every right to call you again and again and send mail and such to get your attention about making your payments or getting in contact with them. it's worse to ignore these things, if you're not paying.. and you have a lot of money out, you don't have many rights. it was your fault you used more than you could pay.
