So silly me. I just moved into my new home, and it's an A-Frame. I forgot this morning when my alarm went off. I got up an ran right into one of the beams. Ouch. Now I have a pretty big welt on my forehead that hurts quite a bit. I've been dizzy today, but nothing else has come with it. (I looked up the symptoms.) So if I go to the hospital, then what would they do for it. and how can they tell? THANKS!!

  1. They can do a catscan and check, but there's really nothing that they can do for you except give you some Tylenol. A way for you to check is to have someone look into your eyes and see if your pupils seem dilated or unfocused. My boyfriend plays hockey and is extremely accident prone so he gets concussions at least once a year. His mom (a nurse) told me about checking his pupils. Other than that just take some tylenol. Another good sign of having a concussion is feeling very sleepy. If you start to feel tired, do not go to bed! Go to the hospital. Of course, this occurs in the first couple of hours, so if you haven't fallen asleep yet, you're probably okay.

  2. To check of a concussion the hospital will do some vision testing as well as a head CT (Like and x-ray) to make sure there is no internal damage. It doesn't hurt to get checked out especially if you are dizzy. But definitelyput some ice on your welt! hope this helps.
