  1. No Passion fruit, plants  must be  extra clean, none of the puertoricans exotic  fruits  like  Guanabana, guayaba, corzon, anon,

6 bottles of alcohol  max  and  NO 151 proof is allow.

you shouls  check  the Department of agriculture site.

  2. You are not able to take fruits, some plants and since November 15 you can't buy international liquiors to take to the states. You can only buy products made in Puerto RIco like Bacardi rum, Ron Barrilito . If you want to buy other kinds of liquors  you must buy them in a supermarket and you have to check them in your bags and the prices will be the same as in the ones in the states. Last week I bought some bottles of wine at Costco in Las Vegas and they were cheaper than the ones at Costco in Bayamon.

  3. Nothing with seeds or soil basically. Check out the US agiculture web site.

  4. Fresh fruits and veggies with seeds and pits are not permitted. You can take back with you clothes, rum (if you drink), shoes, handmade things such as hammocks, shirts, jewelry.  No plants are allowed.

Fruits, veggies with seeds and plants are prohibited due to any bugs that may be in or on the items.

Pottery and glass made things are ok as long as you bubble wrap them and secure them in your luggage or hand carry bag.

You can also take some foods such as pasteles (a mix made of the root veggies filled with meat and wrapped in cures plantain leaves), alcapurrias (root veggie mix filled with meat but made into a shape of a large cigar), all these has to be uncooked and well wrapped and packed. As for typical candies from here and sweets you can take them with you also because they are wrapped and many come in packages that are protected.

Enjoy your visit and your shopping.

  5. Whatever fruits / vegetables the US Department of Agriculture says you cant bring.  Dont know the exact or current list.

  6. I assume you are talking about the continental US when you say upper 48, right?

You can bring alcohol home on the plane with you. I think they limit the number of bottles but I am not sure. If you buy it outside the airport then you need to have it in a checked bag. If you buy it in the airport then it can be in your carry-on.

You can't bring certain produce with you.  Your bags must go through an USDA agriculture inspection first. Some tropical fruits & plants will need to be thrown out. Some will be allowed but will be checked for disease.

You can bring packaged food. If you cut up fruit in pieces & package it in a ziplock bag then its ok. Also any pre-packed food like candy can be brought back.
