I have already looked at the Wiki entry, so please don't direct me there.

I Googled my psychiatrist and his profile states that he draws from his training in Adlerian Psychology. So now I am curious about Adlerian Psychology and what it is bringing to my therapy experience.

I prefer answers from those with any sort of personal experience with Adlerian Psychology as opposed to those just giving me a link to a site.

Thank you!

  1. Adlerian Psychology is a branch of the psychodynamic approach that Sigmund Freud started. To be brief and to the point, what happens basically is that they address issues that you have experienced in your childhood and relate it to your current life to help you make the connection. Once that happens you can find alternative ways to deal with situations that arrise in the future.

Basically, we do what we used to do as children, or draw from the experiences that we had back then, but somehow were stuck and didn't progress, which is what causes adjustment or our problem solving skills.......
