i am considering going to study art somewhere in london/england. i found a school i really like the looks of... the University of the Arts London.

i have a pretty good idea of what i want to study...thinking of college is confusing enough, but what are some things i should consider or know?

i know that its hard to visit a place like that so you really take a chance with what the school is like. but what other things?

to study abroad do i have to go to another college first?

help!

  1. Some things you should consider is that it is costly to live and study in London. I'm not sure where you live, but the US dollar is worth 1.99 Pounds in the UK, so everything is double. If you apply and gain acceptance, you must apply for a passport and then apply for a student visa to study in the UK. When applying for this, you must show that you are able to pay the total tuition and accommodation fees or else they will not grant the visa. Tuition, accommodation, flight ticket, food, shopping expenses, books, etc. = lots of dough.

It is difficult to go somewhere with your eyes closed, you MUST do tons of research and know what your getting yourself into. The food, weather, and culture is different from the US, again not sure where you are from but I'm from the US. Certain foods are not available, the weather is gloomy on many days and can be brutal during the summer, and there are so many different cultures and ethnicities.

If you wish to study abroad for a semester or summer, then yes you must be studying in a college and engage in a study abroad program. If you want to study there and complete your degree there, then you simply have to apply to the university and go. After accepted, you apply for accommodation where you may live in a flat or student housing with 3-10 students and its enjoyable if you're a socialable person. Also know you will get homesick, it happens to everyone. Remember your parents, siblings and friends are not there for you, studying abroad builds independence.
