What can be do to remove the notion "Americans are stupid" from the rest of the world?

I went to a mini world tour this summer. One problem I encountred everywhere I went was how people have this misconception that "Americans are stupid". I wasn't born in America and I am a native of another country, and I used to believe that too. But over seven years, that notion has changed and I actually believe that there are lot of AMERICAN people out there who are just wayyy too smart. So why blame 100% of American people for 40%-50% of people's stupidity? But anyway, people of many countries I went to (not naming them, I don't wanna cause a stir) were like, "oh most Americans are just stupid and think they know everything" and "stupid Bush and his American people". I was a little offended b/c truly there are a lot of smart American people.

i don't know, but i don't like how people from other countries assume that americans are stupid. i do agree that there are stupid obnoxious americans, but on the whole most of us are fairly intelligent and i don't think its fair to be so prejudiced against us.

I feel the same. Im an American but I don't like living here at all & I dislike many of the uneducated foolish people that live here, so I plan on moving to the UK :) but it offends me when people group an entire country together. I recently went to Sweden & everyone hated us SO much. Especially the French. Hopefully Obama can turn things around for the USA:)

Well, maybe if the US didn't have such stupid policies and wasn't in such a stupid war right now people outside the US would feel better about us. As it is though, we vote for the presidency. We elected a stupid president, therefore we must be stupid. The idea is flawed, but nobody's perfect in their logic.

Also, maybe it would help if we stopped referring to America as a country. It is a continent. Two continents actually. If you are talking about the US, say the US, not America. America includes many many other countries, and saying that the US is the only county in America is to say that they are meaningless in comparison.

oh come on!!a few of them??maybe it IS a few of them..like MR.Bush but then,its those few who decide the fate of the other countries costing thousands of lives..!'those few of them' who tink they know everything,they can do anything stuff!

pls. change the ATTITUDE of its ppl. and everything else will follow.the prob is tat they not only hav lost their minds but also their hearts!!

well for my experience there are alot of dumb americans... so that balances the universe... everyone has different experiences.. so for you to misinterpret that as a fact then whos dumb now...

There are many stupid americans who are full of themselves. There are also many jealous people abroad because our country is one of the greatest.  People at the top will always be hated on.
