In mid Jan 08, I purchased a new 42' JVC LCD tv. I was unable to connect it immediately to cable bc I was just moving into my new place. I finally got it installed mid feb. After the very first day I realized the tv wasnt working( screen freezing, lines, etc) at which time I contacted Jvc. They sent a tech to pick it up. They kept the tv 3 weeks only to return it and say nothing was wrong and it had to be a cable issue. This was at the end of March. I then cotacted my cable co. They completely rewired my whole house. hooked up the tv to only have the same problem. i contacted the tech again to be told they could only service the tv once every 30 days. I then cotacted Jvc once again... to make a long story short the tech has the tv... I bought it in Jan and havent been able to watch it. Im a very unhappy customer. How can I handle this. I dont even want the tv now.

  1. Keep after JVC.  Do not rest until they have fixed the problem or returned your money.  Also contact the store where you bought it and complain there.  See if you can borrow another set for a while just to prove that the cable is working.  Depending on what state you live in, you may be able to get assistance from them if you can't get it resolved.  At the least, they should return your money if they can't make it work.  Whatever happens, don't give up.  Also, in contacting JVC, "bump up" the command chain.  Ask to talk to a supervisor or manager; write a letter to the company president.

Does your local newspaper or TV station have a consumer action program?  They are often able to get things resolved more effectively.  Yours is an ideal situation for one of these.

Finally, go to the AVS forum http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/

(register on the forum), search for your set's model number, and see what problems others have had and how they handled it.  Post your own experience and ask for suggestions.

  2. Wow, sorry to hear that :(

One of the things I would do is go to the settings and adjust accordingly; sometimes, as when people hook up a gaming system to their tv's, the settings are not correct and causes various problems, mostly blurring.

Also, I would check on the JVC website to see if there was any type of firmware upgrade that was provided; it could be as easy and downloading and installing it onto your tv (assuming that it has a usb port or ethernet port on the side).
