  1. I don't think there's much that the government can do right now for short term gain- in the short run it can't do much.

It can give significant tax breaks to the middle class to help stimulate the economy a bit.

It can also work to be more listening to the generals and work with them to help create a plan to stabalize Iraq and not let our presence be longer than it should be.  Once we stabalize Iraq, that would help reduce tensions somewhat. And we're making progress.

The govt can-should- invest in alternate energy.  Too much of the time we use oil and are dependent on it.  Its time for us to focus more attention (and give rewards to companies that do this) towards alternate energy.

The government should also promote a more 'dove'/peaceful foreign policy.  Not one that is weak.  But rather one that has more diplomacy and less aggressive tactics- which often contribute towards raising the price of oil.  Often times, it is aggression that creates more problems and going to Iran would significantly increase gas prices (already higher than they are at the moment).

They also need to curb the tax cuts to the rich and heavy spending.  I know we're spending a lot on the wars and there is only one way to reduce spending on that.  By working with the generals and others to help stabalize different countries (Iraq and Afghanistan) and doing our best to follow through on experts' recommendations.  We also need to look to see where wasteful spending is- the GAO (independent Government Accounting Office) needs to do more -if it hasn't already- studies on where wasteful spending is.  We need bipartisan panels/groups of politicans, economists, and other experts to see where we are spending our money and find ways to help make it more efficient.  But I doubt that would happen.  Often times, they'll just complain about "earmarks" instead (pet projects) when those don't consist of large amounts of the spending within our economy.  Also, a lot of them bicker too much..but if we get a bipartisan panel, it might help make things better.  But unfortunately, I think political leaders will debate too often and there would be a lot of partisan fighting. :(

And yes the American government should do something about the trade deficit.  I don't know what, but its making our dollar weaker.  We're exporting very few goods and that has been a factor in our dollar being weaker

-the other is the wasteful spending and budget deficits.  that creates increased national debt.  As a result, that leads to more dollars printed and a bigger national debt.

The government must also provide programs to (well working with private businesses and financial experts) teach about mortgage process.  And to avoid mortgage fraud.  A huge problem with the economy is the foreclosures and that was because of - 1. mortgage fraud 2. people being loaned mortgages even though they didn't have the ability to pay all of it back.  That led to people having high debt and being unable to pay back their mortgages.  There also needs to be more responsibility by some consumers.  They spent a lot on credit.  That increased debt.

All of these though (at least a large portion) are long term solutions.  No short term solutions I can think of...sorry. :(

  2. Yes, it definitely can get worse and probably will.

The US government is now the biggest debtor in the world.   And it won't be long before the US government will be in as much trouble as many of the current home owners are.

Too much borrowing and spending other people's money is what led to this mess.  The US government is a big part of this overspending.  And the US government is not in a good position to help anyone because it has its own huge debts to take care of.

  3. You can do nothing to help the economy but you can help yourself. Get out of debt and do something productive of actual economic value with your time.

  4. If you were sitting in the meetings of the Central bankers of the world, they would say all the world problems have to do with population control..... we think America operates independently as a free democratic society, but the truth is, we are controlled by a independent company called the Federal reserve and Owned by a foriegn group of bankers called The Central Bank (worldbank) who own our government and much of the worlds assets.

They have to adjust populations thru wars, famine, disease.

This is why they regulate the Food, the air, the seas, the natural resources, they have total control, and its america's turn at the population adjustment game these sicko's play....

this is absolute truth....... you only need to piece the puzzle together........ this might help.
