What can be plugged into the AUX output on my Hi-fi?

Ok, so I have nice Kenwood hi-fi with the speaker wires plugged in the L and R speaker sockets, but I was wondering...

What exacly are the "AUX IN" plugs for? Theres a L one and a R one.

  1. You can plug in an iPod,  a TV, a VCR/DVD - any thing that makes noise and has an audio out port. To plug your iPod in, saving lots of money over one of those clock radios, buy a 1/8 to RCA adapter, like the one in the source, from almost anywhere that sells electronics.  


  2. AUX is short for auxiliary. You need to buy yourself a phono lead from an electronics shop (will have one red and one white socket) then you can potentially plug anything in to your hifi.

    For example, if you get a phono lead with a small headphone jack on the end and you can use your hifi as an amplifier for your ipod. Now you can ditch those puny "ipod speakers" everyone seems to have. Hope this helps!
