What can be used as a nesting box if we don't have a real one?

We have parakeets getting ready to have babies. what could be used as a nesting box if we can't get a real one??

Dont use newspaper the ink will kill them!!! the shoe box is fine cut a hole in it.  Shred up plain white paper put it in the bottom of the cage and they will shred it up smaller. Go online and look up for more things to use. There are plenty. Paper towels.
