What can cause a diesel engine to have a "pinging" sound? Bad fuel? Number One diesel? ?

  1. The reason for the pinging sound is due to the usage of lower quality oil itself. Diesel is a lower quality oil out of crude and it has the nature of itself to be more emissable compared to petrol.


  2. Add some additive octane boost & cleaner> Most auto parts stock it> I run it in every tank >Dodge diesel 04.5 =425 Hp  



  3. Remember, diesels "ping" opposite of gas.  They ping "cold" and under light load.  So yeah, if you're using #1 in summer, I'd run that out quick and get some summer fuel in it and see if it goes away.

  4. Number one diesel is for winter only.  So if you are using it in warm weather that is the problem.
