What can cause shaky eyes? PLEASE ANSWER (I can't stop worrying!!)?

When I tilt my head back and glare open with my eyes, the vision in my left eye goes shaky.

I've never noticed this before. Only 2-3 days ago, whilst I was on the laptop. My head was tilted back relaxing on the wall, then I opened my eyes out wide and the vision in the left eye was kind of shaky. The vision was 1mm shaky from the strain/glare/pressure I put on the eye.

This doesn't happen when I tilt my head forward, or when my head is upright.... ONLY when my head is tilted back and my pupil is at the bottom of my lid.

If this helps:

+ I'm stressed, it's exam season at the moment.

+ I've been having late nights. (6 hours a sleep a day)

+ I've been using the laptop ALL day everyday... probably over 10-12 hours!! I know.. it's very bad. The screen is at full contrast. Could this be the reason??

I'm 18, Female, Asian.

I'm SLIGHTLY anemic.. I'm supposed to take iron supplements but I haven't for the past year or two.

  1. Shaky eye? Jumping vision can be caused by a variety of neurological problems.

Are you on any medications for depression, headaches, nervous disorders?

I was having trouble seeing and it progressively lasted for longer periods of time. Everything looked like it was bouncing up and down in front of me. I walked up to a total stranger in the grocery store I was in and asked if he could see my eyes bouncing up and down. I think he just gave me a weird look then he said that I need to stop smoking whatever I am on.

It is probably that your right eye is the dominant eye so the left will go first, at least seem to. My left eye is dominant and if I closed the right eye I could see fine.

Start doing what your doctor tells you to and at least call the doc to get some advice or stop by the doctor's office. My Rx got adjusted and now I see fine.

  2. This sounds like a nerve impingement in your neck.

Think about it - when you tilt back, it compresses the discs and the nerves in your neck. You could have a herniated or slipped disc in your neck. The muscle tension of your stress is not helping any either.

Just keep the stress off your neck, and also some meditation and relaxation should help. Have a few drinks to relax if you need to. Make sure your bed and pillow are comfortable and are not crunching your neck at night.

    Or, go see a chiropractor.

Good luck on your exams - and then you need a vacation!
