  1. We are looking into reducing CO2 emissions through my work. Our intranet had this information in it today.

Cut a kilo of CO2 in a day

    Travel:

Personal travel accounts for around a quarter of all the damage individuals do to the environment, including climate change effects.

Keep your tyre pressure at the correct level for a distance of 100 miles

Instead of driving for three miles, cycle

    Home:

The energy you use at home is likely to be your biggest contribution to climate change. 80 per cent of it goes on heating and hot water.

Dry one load of washing outside rather than using a tumble dryer

Turn down your thermostat by just one degree for the day

Replace three standard 100w light bulbs with energy saving equivalents (for eight hours a day)

    Office:

Reducing, reusing and recycling waste saves on the raw materials and energy which are needed to make new paper, metal, glass and other items. Saving energy helps tackle climate change.

Switch off your monitor at lunchtime for 45 minutes

Recycle 180 sheets of paper instead of putting them in a landfill

  2. drive 4 cylinder cars instead of v eights or better still buy a hybrid

  3. Take their SUV's fill them up with gas and hit anyone they see in a smart car or hybrid.

  4. driving the speed limit, biking to places you can....also it might help to make a point that some democratic advice is to ride a bike to work or anythings to save money and the environment. However, democrats claim to be for the little people and underprivelaged but don't think about people who live in nebraska who have to drive an hour or so to get around and havent okayed oil drilling in alaska or mexico when many other countries have tapped into our supply

  5. Lately, when I drive I practice "Zen Driving". I didn't think I'd like it but with gas prices the way they are -- and always will be-- I've started to pretend there's an egg between my foot and the accelerator. I try to anticipate red lights and stops and slow so I can avoid coming to a complete stop.

On the freeway I keep her around 55mph since this is the optimum for gas mileage. I don't fight or prowl for parking spaces... this uses gas!

The benefit of driving like this - saving gas, but also I've found it is actually relaxing. Let everyone else be P.O.'d - I'm cruisin' brothah!

I've noticed a lot of drivers consider themselves "the fastest thing on 4 wheels" like they are the only ones truly skilled enough to drive while the rest of us are morons.

Um... good luck with that y'all! There's absolutely no way driving like that can be considered efficient.

  6. Well for one if they are in riding distance they can take their bike or even walk to work...Car pool...ride public transportantion....
