  1. depends on the judge - a bench warrent could be  sworn out

but if you are sick or some emergency happen call the jury cordinator in your county and explain it to them - they understand life happens - but blow off jury duty just to blow off jury duty is not a good thing especially if the judge is not in a good mood.

  2. in CT I think it's a $120 fine - terrifying

  3. It isn't bad and it is really your duty to serve.  Nothing wrong with it.  What kind of system would we have if no one was on the jury?

There are reasons such as too old, sickness, etc.

But you better let them know and they may require a note from Dr.  They can look and see how old you are.====

  4. You are likely to be held in contempt of court.

  5. You will have been reprieved of witnessing the greatest, fraudulent spectacle on earth! Merry Christmas!

  6. it is your constitutional duty. don't skip it!!

  7. What happens if I don't show up?

The judge, court staff, attorneys, and fellow jurors expect you to arrive prepared for jury selection on time. The judge has the authority to authorize the Sheriff or Constable to apprehend jurors who fail to appear.

Failure to report for jury service carries a penalty of up to a $1000 fine, and in some instances, the judge can hold you in contempt of court and confine you to jail. Payment of a fine will not discharge you from jury service. You can still be required to serve even if you are fined.

It's s upposed to be your citizen's duty to serve although from my past experience, the $10 and lunch they gave me for 4 days was not worth it.  Although I didn't like the inconvenience, I did learn a lot and that was good for my memory bank and to be able to tell my students.
