  1. give him nice bath before bed with a few drops of lavender or camomile well know for there soothing affect on children.maybe play some nice soft music for him.folded by massage.maybe put a nice children's night light in his room could be too dark for him

  2. is he cold?

    suffering nightmares?

not sure if you meant one and a half MONTHS, weeks or YEARS

try having a bottle of milk handy - that is easier for you all rather than sitting through the screaming for 2 hours

  3. Mak sure when he goes to bed he has a full tum, a good story, and enough blankets!

Seriously, it's perishing cold at night at the mo - make sure he's warm enough. They all go through the night terrors thing at around this age. It should fizzle out soon. My youngest hated being behind bars in the cot. Once we twigged (she'd slept like a top all night on her own in a double bed at grandmas!) we took her shopping and bought a bed she could clamber into on her own - she was about 15mo.

Don't leave him to scream for 2 hours. Go in, untangle him, give him a drink of water and tuck him back in. However many times it takes.

  4. I can't argue with that routine answer.  It really is key, keep to a schedule and it will pay off.  I have a 17 month old and she's up no later than 7:30, nap time from 12-2, I keep her going until about 7 which is bath time with her brother, and bed time no later than 8pm.  Sometimes she's still resistant after quiet time and the bedtime story but when all that fails I put her in the bed,  tell her I love her, hugs, kisses and  walk out of the room.  She's asleep within minutes.  Stick with it and he'll adapt.

  5. Maybe he is not eating enough and waking up hungry.  make sure he gets a snack before bedtime.

  6. Routine. Routine. Routine.

Wake them up at 7am, lunch at noon, tea at 3.30, bath and a book in their room at 5.00, sleeping by 6/6.30. Make sure you stick to that every day.

When you have book time, make sure there is no stimulation. not toys, no fuss, definatly no TV, no older siblings, no loud noises in the house, just calm. if your toddler likes it, a soothing bottle of warm milk will help, but overall routine is the key!

    Good luck x
