I'm freezing ice cubes to fill up my cooler. What can I do to make it stop slower? Is it true that if I put salt in the water before it freezes it'll slow the melting process?

  1. Yes it is true indeed. However water will need much lower temperature to solidify once salt has been added to it. I think salt is a good idea as it doesnt causes much problems.

  2. yes salt would work

  3. Salt will lower the freezing point.

More insulation will slow the rate of melting.

  4. yes, you could put salt in the water because salt ice has a higher melting/freezing point, so it takes longer for it to melt.

  5. Adding salt can increase the melting point of ice thus slow the rate for ice to melt. I suggest you put the salt after you freeze the ice because putting the salt in the water before freezing make it take a longer time to freeze
