What can i and cant i do in Indonesia?

Me and my boyfriend will be travelling to Indonesia soon and was wondering is there anything we cant do in Indonesia that would be accepted here in Australia? For example kissing in public. Please list your sources.

  1. Indonesia is a big country and every areas has different attitude and culture. You should be more specific on which area where you will visit. For instance in Bali, Balinese are more open and tourists can wear bikinis but certainly you can not do that in Java island.

    Well, this information is just for general situation.

    What you CAN NOT do in Indonesia:

    - eating at foodstalls (better eat at restaurant for hygene reason)

    - drink tap water (better drink from bottle with closed seal from supermarket or small shops)

    - buying  or bargaining items from streethawkers (if your looks is like caucasian, they could following you all the way long until you buy more or from their streethawkers'buddies)

    - taking taxi without driver's identity information on the dashboard

    - taking taxi without fare-meter (all taxis in Indonesia should use fare-meter, if you want to be safe, please take Blue Bird taxi - a reputable taxi company in Indonesia-esp. in Jakarta)

    - kissing/making out in public
