The recipient receives a plastic card, the Georgia EBT Card. This card allows withdrawals for food purchases at grocery stores and supermarkets. The store simply uses the EBT card to "electronically" subtract purchases from the food stamp account. The recipient can only spend the amount that is in the account. This is not a credit card.

No, you cant shop online with EBT.  You cant buy hot fod (like pre cooked chicken dinners that they might have on a steam table inside the grocery store).   You can't buy non-food items - like alchohol, tabacco, & toiletries.   You can buy food & that's it: you can buy all chips & snack cakes if you want or all veggies and meat or all noodles and icecream...or any combination thereof.  You just have to go to the grocery store to get it.
