hi guys. i'm not sure what i can claim back when i file my tax at the end of the financial year.

i am an internet marketer working from home self employed. i suppose the first question is should i register as a company or simply remain self employed? what are the advantages and disadvantages of both?

also can i claim back money from my tax for the likes of paying people to do freelance work for me, computer/laptop, Pay Per Click advertising (or any other advertising for that mateer), cost of having websites designed etc.

if anyone else out there runs a small online business and could maybe give me a good list of what they claim and what they can't claim back that would be extremely helpful.

cheers folks.

  1. You cannot claim anything as you have not yet paid any tax!

You should be keeping accurate records of all the income and outgoings in connection with this work. Any expense which relates to the earning of the money must be included. It does not matter whether it is online or not - the rules are the same. You will then include your accounts in your annual self assessment.

You should have registered as self employed within 3 mths of starting the business, so if you have not already done so, you mst do it now as you are incurring a penalty. I don't see the point in starting a company if you are not employing staff or taking on leases.

  2. the best advise i could give you would be to contact your citizensa advice bureau. they will be able to help your individual circumstance.i dont want to advise in case i give the wrong advicde and you end up worse off x
