  1. how about a battery? The mitochondrion supplies 0ver 90% of the ATP ( energy currency ) for the cell. It is often called the powerhouse of the cell.

  2. The lunchroom because it supplies students with food that gives them energy to complete the rest of the day

  3. I would pick a person for the analogy, either a teacher or a student.  Could also be the lunchroom and cooks.

In a mitochondria, food goes in, energy comes out, so I'd want to pick something in the school that had a clear example of where something gets put in and something is put out in return.

The teachers supply the students with knowledge, the students use it learn and hopefully go out and do great things in the world.

The school supplies the teachers with resources (often limited) and in return the teachers turn out the students.

The caferteria receives the raw food, the cooks prepare it and give it to the students and staff and thus provide the energy (at least the afternoon energy) to drive the students and the teachers.  (Now that I've written this out, I like this example).

  4. maybe the teachers??? since they supply students knowledge- in the case of mitochondria, energy

  5. If your school has a generator you could use that. The mitochondria is the power plant of the cell.
