I've had it for about 7 months (just past the 6 month warranty) and now theres something wrong with the lighting. The light wont turn on. I moved the wires which connect to the bulb and sometimes there'll be a little flash, but that's all. Pretty much I just have a setup tank with plants and fish but no light.

ps, its not the bulb because i already tried replacing it. Could it be something with the "fuse"

  1. It could be a short in the wire or disruption of some other connection.  Also, the socket might be rusty or dirty.  If you can move the chord around and find a position that keeps the light, it's just a short in the chord.  In that case you can try to fix the chord in a position that allows the light to work.  If the socket is rusty or dirt, try using a steel brush (or just an old toothbrush if that is all that will fit) to clean the socket.  UNPLUG IT FIRST!  If all else fails, you may need to buy a new hood.  I dont know if they sell nano hoods individually, but you can cross that bridge when you come to it.  Hope this helps.

  2. Try going back to the petstore you bought it from. If they are at all honorable they will help you find a way to fix it.

  3. There could be something wrong with the ballast, it's not the fuse, because if it was the fuse, then there would be no flashes at all. So you may want to check the ballast and see if there are replacements for it, check the company or name brand of the nano aquarium, go to the website and see if they have replacement parts for it.

Anyways, I hope this helps, thanks for asking............
