Get a big sheet that have holes in it like mechanics often use in a garage. You can get different kinds of hooks to hang pictures, you can make it into a theme area, like a big rack of Showcasing CDs by the front cover, it'll be something out of the box and different. and all you need is some nails or screws.

Join AAA and then get maps of everywhere for free and paste or staple them in place.  Cheap and you will look so scholarly.

OMG I love decorating and I think....be creative! start out with a theme like anything you like. Then you can decorate your room about that theme try to buy inexpensive little things then work ur way up! hope this helps
