My daughter (she's in her early teens!) is always complaining about her skin. She hasn't got a skin condition, and she makes it sound worse that it is!! She doesn't coat it in layers of foundation either, and her diet it fine. She washes her face every day and takes her makeup off at nights. I know these spots are from hormones and that, but does anyone have any advice? Do you think drinking extra water would her skin? Thank you!!

  1. her make up might be clogging her pores. buy make up that is non-comedogenic or better, switch to a mineral foundation. there's loads of brands out there, not just bare minerals (which isn't that good, in my opinion).

check the moisturiser she uses, that could cause problems too.

benzoyl peroxide works for a lot of people. you can buy it without a prescription. a really good website is acne.org - there's treatment reviews and a regimen there that you can follow.

don't touch the face too much, ie don't pick at it, as that will cause irritation. change pillowcases frequently to avoid bacteria buildup.

if there's a lot of blackheads/blocked pores.. a good technique that i've found is using a baking soda scrub. use a LITTLE bit mixed with water and gently wash the face with it, once or twice a week. test it out on a bit of skin first, to make sure you're ok with it.

as for diet, a lot of people avoid diary products as it contains a lot of hormones. also avoid greasy and sugary foods.

hope the info helps you a little!

  2. drinking lots of water always keeps your skin hydrated. but I would recommend using any kind of tea tree products. it's made with pure essential oils.

I make and use my own tea tree facial products. very effective!

  3. She could try facemasks from lush, as they are really good.

And yes, drinking extra water helps as it flushes out the toxins, but don't drink to much

  4. hi I'm 13 so I'm about your daughters age. I know how bad spots can feel really. Drinking water helps because it cleans your body out so 8 glasses of water a day will be fine. Also some makeup can clog your pores so make sure she uses non-comedogenic things on her face. I dont recommend any over the counter things because it doesn't even help your face. What I love to use is a lemon sea salt scrub for my face. It works amazingly but I suggest you use it at night. All you need is 1/4 cup of sea salt & 1/4 cup of lemon juice. Mix them together and apply to the face. Gently scrub on face make sure not too hard or it may irritate the skin. Then wash it off with warm water. By the morning you will have clearer, noticeable skin. Good Luck! I hope this helped.

  5. Use a hot cloth cleanser, morning and night. They really condition your skin and even using this one product can make a clod of difference.
