  1. hey, i'm on my high school track team and after i run i would get the same problem. make sure to cool down after running and eat bananas because they help relax and sooth muscles.  I also found muscle cream to help relieve pain in my legs, but it only works temporarily and heating pads, like those stick-on ones.  they really help relieve the pain and tightness in the muscles. and another good thing to do on top of all that, is to massage your legs and where the pain hurts the most. like knead at your muscles.

  2. IF your really sore or tend to get sore often after you run, here are a couple of tips to reduce chances of getting DOMS (delayed onset muscle soreness).

    1. Keep moving, after finishing your training, take the time to cool down by walking and stretches.

    2. Get an ice pack and gently rub your muscles for 10-15 minutes 3X/day, this helps reduce inflamation and soreness.  Take advil if needed.

    3. Cross train: cycling is a good crosstraining exercise.  This helps reduce injuries and soreness

    4. Eat protiens and recovery drinks (chocolate milk works too).  This helps your muscles (micro tears) heal faster.

    5. While sitting down, massage your legs with a foam roller or palm of your hands for a few minutes, do this a few times.

    6.  Ice baths - its really really cold, but it refreshes and revitalizes your legs and helps reduce inflammation.  Bring a sweater and a book/magazine and a bucket of ice.  Run a shallow bath at room tempurature, put on your sweater, sit in tub, add a bit more cold water to cover your legs, then add the ice and sit for at least 10 minutes, this is where a book comes in handy, read for 10 - 15 minutes, this will help keep your mind off the cold.

  3. When i was in track in high school i wanted to be the best and i was because almost everyday i ran 4-7 miles and i was super sore just relax after your run, make sure you also cool down before you stop the only thing i would do is take motrin and that will really help.

  4. not really the best answer but run it off

    you will feel better afterwards

  5. Stretch after running.

Try icing down your knees and ankles for ten minutes.

Got a hot tub? Great for muscles too.

    Pop an Advil after running.
