I really don't like people mistreating their pets.So if I were you I would call animal control or the animal cops.I cry a lot of how many people abuse these Innocent animals.

How are they mistreating her ferret? please be more specific.

Depending on how well I knew her I may say something to her offer to take him,or if I couldn't do that ,call animal control.Any disease they can contract aside from distemper is better than being abused and mistreated.I have 11 ferrets 10 of them were rescues and most of them were mistreated in some way.I have 2 that are just weird now because of it.but that's ok,I love them anyway.

If I were you I would probally contact ASPCA or if shes really mistreating it I would by it from her and take it to a vet so it will have a better chance of living.

I think I need to understand how they are mistreating the ferret.  If they are not feeding and giving the required necessities of life, maybe they no longer want the ferret and I would contact a ferret rescue and see if they can help find a home for the poor little critter.  If they are harming the ferret, I would try to get the ferret away from them and get it to a rescue.  Hard one to answer.

I don't think I would call animal control or SPCA unless I could not find a better way to get the ferret into a better home my self.  The county shelter are full of germs and viruses like distemper and that can be fatal to a ferret.
