What can i do to clean oil base paint so i can repaint with new oil base paint?

the old paint is covered with cigarette smoke and then as well in the kitchen area it has some grease on the painted trim and i know if i just repaint it will not look good and the new paint could peel very easily

  1. Go to the hardware store and buy TSP. It comes in a milk carton like package. You make a solution out of TSP crystals and water and use it to wash down the old paint. Its really good at taking off old grease and grime. Make sure to wear gloves when handling as it can harm your skin . . .
