well i need my passport, am Mexican American but i can't get it because am 16 years old and i need my parent's signature but they're in Mexico and somebody told me that they have to send me a letter that make my uncle responsible for me. But my parents still don't know where to go and get it and what information it has to contain...they also sent my one letter time ago and in the postal they said it was wrong. Please tell me what my parents have to do?

  1. Don't they have Abogados in Mexico... then tell you parents to go see one and have him/her handle the details.

  2. Are you an American citizen or a Mexican citizen?  Either way, you do need your parents signature to get a passport.  You do not need a passport to travel to Mexico by land.  You need your birth certificate  ( Mexican) if you are a Mexican citizen.  You need your birth certificate and a letter of permission signed by both parents and notarized to travel to Mexico alone if you are an American citizen.  Your parents could write that letter, get it notarized and Fedex it to you....and you could travel to Mexico by land.  Then, once you are in Mexico with  them, they could take you to get your passport at the American embassy, if you are an American, or at the Mexican passport office if you are a Mexican.  Of course, your parents could return to the U.S. to take care of their child and deal with these issues themselves.  It certainly is not right for them to leave you stuck with dealing with this.
