If you have the time, you might want to get involved in helping at school or a community organization to help educate others to learn how they can also recycle.

If the young folks can learn to do more of the things that you are doing there will be less litter on our streets and happier families in the future.

You are an excellent example for our youth to learn from.

  2. Don't run the water while you brush your teeth.

    Take shorter showers.

Turn your A/C off when your not home.

Don't spend as much time on the computer or watching TV.

Use the back sheet of the paper, instead of getting a new piece.

  3. TRY TO CLEAN UP THE THE STREETS FROM ALL TRASH THAT YOU CAN

  4. Vote for Al Gore-- when he runs again.

Donate or work for Green peace.

Vote for the politician that stands for tougher environmental & pollution laws, animal rights, etc. or run yourself.

Volunteer to clean up river banks, streams, road sides, etc. with a group or start one.

  5. You can plant trees, plants, prune trees, start getting kids involved with these world saving ideas, and they will really enjoy it if you have fun doing it, and then enjoy the aftermath.  Walk down the bike trail looking and feeling the feelings of how you helped create the enjoying atmosphere.  We can always use less water.  But that is a God given thing, up to each person how much they want to use.  But washing hands brushing teeth, showering or even bath-use 1" less water deepth.  You keep thinking, I think you are doing more than your share.  Keep it up!!!

  8. You may use my 'Best Recycling Idea" and at the same time improve your home and work environments.

    My Best Recycling Idea

Besides recycling the plastic containers, you can improve your work or home environments by bringing live potted plants indoors.

    Major items needed:

One empty plastic gallon container.   Tree Top Apple Juice is preferred, or equal in shape.

One empty plastic ½ gallon container.  Langers All Pomergranate Juice is preferred or equal.

Directions:  Lay the plastic gallon container on its side so the front label is facing up.  Place the empty plastic half gallon container on the label and with a sharpie pen outline the bottom on the Tree Top label and with a sharp knife carefully cut the outline.  Insert the half gallon into the hole until it rest on the back label of the gallon container.  Then mark and cut approximately one inch above the cut on the ½ gallon  to complete your planter container.  Remove and drill several ¼ inch holes on the bottom of the ½ gallon cut container for drainage.

Fill the cut ½ gallon planter with one inch of gravel before putting in good potting mix soil and live growing plant.  If you make two or more you can pour the water back and forth and not waste the water with the nutrients.

Go to NASA’s Clean Air Plant Study for the top ten plants that cleans the indoor air better than the rest.   http://www.zone10.com/tech/NASA/Fyh.htm

  9. Turn off equipment like televisions and stereos when you're not using them. That little red standby light means they're still using power - and that means a contribution to global warming.

    Save water:

    - turn off the tap when brushing your teeth.

    - collect the water used to wash vegetables and salad to water your houseplants.

Call your local government to see if they have a disposal location for used car batteries and other hazardous household wastes.

Recycle your paper, glass, plastics and other waste. Call your local government to find out if they offer a collection service.

    Use rechargeable batteries.

Send e-greetings instead of paper cards. Check out the range of free WWF e-cards available.

Help reduce the world's rubbish dumps - don't use "throw-away" products like paper plates and napkins, and plastic knives, forks, and cups

  10. I can't think of anything else you can do.  You are doing a wonderful job.

  11. Educate others and volunteer with an environmental groups ( there are so many).

  12. Buying organically grown foods - or locally grown foods, less travel means a lot less pollution - is a great help.  Also, taking an interest in environmental issues, educating yourself as to how things really stand, the good and the bad, is important.  Knowledge is power.  And if you still feel a need to do more, sharing acquired knowledge with others, writing to newspapers and magazines or talking with friends, demonstrating against things you think are unnecessary, like new roads or tunnels.  I don't see anything wrong with treehugging, either:)  There are many things, big and small, you can do.  Don't neglect the small things like planting your own vegetable garden, everything counts.  And if we can live our lives closer to our ideals, nobody can say it won't make a difference, at least to ourselves, and you never know how many people may respect and look up to your lifestyle, and maybe even follow your example...  But do it for yourself, most of all.  It seems like you're already dedicated, which is great, don't worry if you don't see immediate change in the environment around you, it is the movement towards change that counts.
