What can i do to make my 97 Mitsubishi eclipse run better?

Ok so i dont know to much about cars and im actually buying my first car

I dont know alot about it but its a standard 2 door 1997 Mitsubishi eclipse.

140,000 miles

Im pretty sure its a GS but again, i dont know alot about cars

Im repainting it and having the water pump and timing belt changed has new tires new brakes and recent oil change.

What are a few good inexpensive parts i can buy to make it ran a little better being its a 97 and over 140,000 miles.
