Well, here is the breakdown. A couple weeks this girl that i had had s*x with a few months before calls and tells me that she is pregnant and that it is mine. I embraced the fact that i was having a kid and she comes in to wear i work and shows me the ultrasound pics. While she is there we make plans on hanging out and talk about whats going to happen in the months to come. Well to make a long story she kept ditching me even though she still makes plans. so i have about six months till the baby is born and to be safe i wanna know all of my rights as a father and what i should do to prepare for the baby being born.

  1. Wow that was a ridiculous answer above. Sounds kinda like religious propaganda. "You must be married to have a child... blah blah"

YES, you have rights even if you are not married.  Though you won't have a many as the mother (that would be the case even if you were married and going through a divorce).

The best thing for you to do is hire a lawyer that specializes in custody cases.  He/She will be able to provide you the guidance you'll need to be part of your baby's life.

Props to you by the way for being a man and accepting your responsibilities.  You're a diamond in the rough these days! I wish you good luck & hope that everything turns out alright for you & baby.

  2. While your DNA may be part of the baby and, since you are not married, if you n' she live in the U.S., you have no rights.

Also, Considering that she keeps ditching you, you should prepare for the possibility of being hounded for child support.
