What can i do to prepare myself for the PSAT test?

I'm taking the test in October so i was wonder how good i have to be to go in the National Merit Scholar..

To prepare, I recommend using a book called The Official SAT Study Guide.  It's the main book that I used to prepare, and I ended up being a National Merit Scholar.   You should aim for as high of a score as you can get. The specific score required to move onto the semifinalist round of the scholarship differs from state to state and year to year, but go for a score in the 220's.
