  1. My opinion is that you buy wall stickers and paint the wall whatever color you like, and stick the stickers where ever you want. (After the paint is dry) And you can also look in the world phone book and look for the number on the show Flip That House. Or go to google and type in home furnishings and look on styles to decorate. Really its your choice. When I was getting a new computer cuz mine had fried, I was ready to get my desk and I typed in desks and it went to only $40.00!!!!!!!! So you probably can look on the internet on google and type in -Cheap Fruniture- to bling up your room. P.S. yahoo answers would be way better to ask more that your parents. Most parents dont know style. lolz.

  2. paint for sure.

  3. tear the pannelng off and jus paint everything and make it up to date with warm comfy color

  4. well you can always tear the paneling off.

if thats too much effort for you (it would be for me) i would reccomend just painting over it. my friend did that to her room and it looked just fine.

    best of luck!

    =)

  5. I painted my 70's paneling.  I just cleaned it first with TSP then painted it..it was kinda pourous so I didnt feel the need to primer it  or sand it first to make the paint stick. You could also fill in the vertical lines with pianters caulk on just the top part  and then make a "wainscoating" half way up.  or just fill in all the vertical lines with painters caulk.  The caulk I used for painting to fill in imperfections was just cheap painters caulk from home depot.  It was less than 2 dollars a tube. you have to buy the caulk gun but thats just about 3 dollars too.

  6. YOu can paint over it. You will need drywall mud, drywall seam tape, and primer, plus the paint.

Apply the tape to the paneling grooves. Then mud over them. Allow that to dry, then prime the whole wall and paint. Good luck!

Of course, you can simply prime and paint, but it will look like you painted your old wood paneling...whereas sealing off the grooves will make it look like regular flat walls.

  7. My parents just bought an old house and are in the process of redoing some rooms, one of them being the family room that is covered in ugly paneling from the 80's. It is nearly impossible to remove. I spend the entire day trying to rip it out and i only got about 1/6 of it off. We have decided to just cover it over with drywall. The paneling that is in the house is incredibly ugly and painting it over would be useless. But if the paneling in your room has a nice sort of appearance but a horrid color, than painting it over might do the trick. I don't recommended using wallpaper.
