Question:

What can i do when im angry?

i dont get angry as often as i used to but when i do its REALLY bad. ive tried drawing, listening to music, working out and it didnt work. the only thing that works is beating the c**p out of my punching bag but i end up tearing up my gloves or messing up my hands. anyone have any other suggestions?

  1. martial arts, listening to really hard core music, going outside and just running your heart out until you feel like you're going to burst, kicking something, kicking a soccer ball, throwing a soccer ball at your house


  2. first of all, just take good breaths. breathing really does take a big part in controlling your anger. Then you can drink some water and that should calm you down. Also swimming may help you deal with anger

Have you ever tried dialectal behavior therapy (DBT)???  If you don't want to go to a therapist you can buy a book by Marsha Linehan (I think thats the name, the last name may be slightly different)  It feels silly doing it at first, but eventually it does help.  I have been doing DBT with my therapist because I have Borderline Personality Disorder and it helps out a lot-- especially with the anger issues.

  4. I get myself a bottle of water, go outside, and split wood. It works wonders for me.

  5. I probably don't have the answer but maybe you do and you don't realise it i.e. Do your best to think, what triggers your bouts of anger, if you can do that you can then try to avoid those people,

    places, situations OR if you cannot avoid them be aware of the situation and don't fall into the trap.

    You mentioned that you don't get angry as often as you used to,

    that is a very positive sign, think about that.

    One last thing, how much coffee and coke do you take per day

  6. Punching the punching bag works well or you could also listen to some classic music, close your eyes and breathe deeply while you listen to the music and going outside helps too.

  8. When I first read the question I was going to say martial arts, but you bring up your punching bag, this is not martial arts, hitting a punching bag is hitting a punching bag.

    I recommend taking martial arts at a school that is somewhat strict, for instance u must stand at attention, u must maintain control of ur temper, u must control ur muscles and mind.... this works great for me I rarely get angry and when I do the worst thing I do is tell someone to shut up, never hit stuff or anything, anymore. ( I used to before martial arts )...

    weird, martial arts made me hit stuff less.... lol

  10. How do we control our anger? We cannot control how and when we get angry but we can control and choose what we want to do with our anger. If we know that we fly off the handle easily, there are ways that we can do to manage it.  Read more on how to control yr anger

  12. Dealing with anger is a common problem among young males. Studies have shown that working out often only increases the anger (when you are angry not when your not). I have heard that the best way to get rid of anger is walking and talking to someone at the same time. It may also be helpful to avoid situations that make you angry. If you are in a situation where you feel anger coming on leave. If you are feeling stressed out find a way to relax. For example if yo are working on you car and getting anger it wont run. Stop working on it and do something else until you calm down.
