MY friend has a big problem wit hes computer, he has 2 hard dsik, he had 3 partitions , C , D and D the computer doest work now, it will just restart if you open it. I tried to reinstal the windows (xp and even 2000) on it, i tried only with windows xp at the last. I can see only the c and d partition, it seemed that the c and d partitions where damaged, and now the e partition doesnt exist, both partitions have an equal space wich suprised me (thats how i knew the e partition got deleted).

I reformated both d and c partitions, with quick reformating, i installed windows xp in partition c, however the computer wont start the windows, then i instaled widnwos on both c and d partitions now i got a disk error, please restart.

What can i do with this computer (like its new and pretty fast), how can i instal windows xp on this computer, please help, i really dont know what to do and i kinda got in panic......

  1. blow it out your ***

  2. when u install xp try formatting the partition during installation

  3. Your best bet is to call Windows or the maker of the computer.  My computer crashed and I reinstalled windows.  However, and I had to call Microsoft afterwords and they had to re-register my windows.  Then I called Dell who actually from another computer i was using downloaded the drivers i needed to get my computer up and running.  Make sure you have all of the serial numbers ready when you call.  I thought when this happened i would be on the phone for hours, the two calls only took 10 minutes and my ancient computer was working again. The only downfall is you will probably end up with someone on the other end who does not speak English well but if you are computer literate and give them the right terminology, they will have you fixed in no time.

  4. delete all partitions and reformat both drives, do not partition hard drives, it's very silly and pointless.

  5. Reformat and install XP, but do not partition the hard drive. You have most likely lost any data on the D and E partitions.

  6. Try getting a new hard drive.

  7. First of all, you can't name two drives the same name (D).

I would put the O.S. installer in and format all, reinstall with one partition on each disk and try that.

You don't need an O.S. on both disks, just the Master.

Use the Master to format the slave or secondary drive and transfer files such as downloads, pics, music or what ever you want to use it for to the slave disk.

Don't try to get fancy by trying to add two O.S. , since you are obviously new to this, it can be a bit tricky at times.

  8. Since you are deleting partitions (either accidentally or on purpose), why haven't you tried deleting ALL the partitions, doing a full format of only one partition on the hard drive, and reinstalling XP on that?

Also, try removing all but one hard drive before you begin.
