  1. well first in my country, saw dust is use as a soil for growing mushrooms. i think the mushroom is called SHIITAKE MUSHROOMS or FIELD MUSHROOMS . it is a richly flavoured tree fungus is usually sold in its dried form in markets. to decrease import mushrooms ,we plant & make our own mushrooms & export it to other countries. now, mushrooms producing & exporting is our top marketing in my country.. :O

p/s : u should try to plant them better than wasting the saw dust... then maybe u can open your own company of  mushrooms producing... :)

  2. give it to me

i love to use it for making paths ,

    making compost

    or use as mulch

or mix it with soil to make it more water absorbent

    bedding for animals

    etc.

we go to the carpenters to beg for it

  3. This material is an excellent mulch for gardening, with one exception. If you till it in, it takes a lot of nitrogen from the soil to cause decomposition which you really did not want anyway.

Solution, don't mix it into the soil.

Sawdust and shavings make excellent absorbent bedding for farm livestock.

In the north, sawdust and shavings are a good insulation to be put over ice in winter(in an ice house) to preserve the ice as refrigerant for spring through fall use.

We can also use these materials for  fuel. For many years much of Vancouver BC was heated with burning sawdust and wood chips. But it is better to have them gassified first in a city. Gassification leaves the smoke clean and provides a byproduct charcoal that is a great soil amendment.

  4. You can add it to your compost pile as long as they are not from treated wood.
