  1. you would need a translator program of some sort, common all over the internet, just search for a download.

  2. You are just typing, right?

You don't need to download ANYTHING.

Just go into your control panel, and find where it says "change keyboards and languages".

Follow the directions.  If you can't figure it out, email me.  I have the instructions for how it works on MY computer, and even if yours is different, you should be able to adapt it.  (note:  SHOULD).

Once you get it set up, you should be able to toggle back and forth btw the languages, by just clikcing Alt + Shift.

  3. Free japanese word processor JWPce:

    And this tool:

    http://www.njstar.com/

  4. If you are using Windows XP:

Go to your Control Panel, and click on Regional and Language Settings. Click the Languages tab, then under Text Services and Input Languages, click the "Details..." button. A new window will pop up where under Installed Services, you will want to click the "Add" button. Another window will pop up, and you should choose "Japanese" from the drop-down box. Click the "OK" button, then you should see a branch of info entitled "Japanese" in the scroll box beside the buttons. Then, you will go back up to the Default Input Language section and select "Japanese - Microsoft IME Standard (et cetera)".

You will most likely want to be able to type in Japanese in programs like Notepad also, so if you want you can go to the "Advanced" tab and select "Extend support of advanced text services to all programs".

You can then select the "OK" button which will close that window.

Also, if you want to display Japanese websites made using Flash, then on the remaining window (Regional and Language Settings), go to the "Advanced" tab and select "Japanese" from the drop-down box under Language for Non-Unicode Programs, then click the "OK" button.

Then you're all done! Unfortunately this only applies to Win XP. If you need a Vista tutorial, let me know. I can borrow a friend's. :)
