What's the work environment like? Is it stressful? Is it hard? What tasks will they ask of me? This is my first job ever so i'm just really curious. I don't go out there and look stupid!

  1. The work environment is actually really fun, hardly ever stressful (it can be irritating here and there, but not stressful) !!  If it's your first job, you're probably in high school, so "the nave" as I like to call it, is a perfect place to get started.  A lot of high school kids and college students make up the majority of the employees, which makes it a great group to work with and you'll make friends and look forward to going to work.

Most likely you'll be on the customer service team, which means you'll be a cashier, be assigned to the fitting room, put clothes away from the fitting room, or recover an area of the sales floor (recover = fold).

If it's possible you're joining the logistics team, that means you're responsible for putting away shipment, setting displays, moving merchandise, and doing markdowns.  I've worked on both teams and they are both a lot of fun.

You will be asked to get customers to sign up for the store credit card - the Old Navy Card (ONC)... it is a HUGE part of the business, so be prepared to hear about the ONC every day, day after day...  the ONC goal is often more important than the sales goal.

The music in the store can be very repetitive to hear day after day, but the playlist is pretty big, the music is fun, and it's opened up my taste for various music.  I find myself keeping a list of songs I hear and download them to listen at home.

Managers & employees can make or break how you feel about the job, so hopefully you'll get good ones at your store.

  2. she pretty much nailed it on the spot. be prepared to multitask and do alot of different things at once. old navy is such a chill place to work. ive been with them for a year and i think ill be there for a long time. you make a lot of friends and from my experience, there isnt any drama. you will definitely learn people skills in this job. if you want to go up in management you have got to stand out in customer service. good luck!!
