  1. I can`t believe it when correspondants answer food questions & quote McD`s, Burger king, KFC etc - what the h**l have these establishments got to do with food as we know it???

When in Paris go to Bar Trappiste near Notre Dame & the Hotel de Ville (Town Hall) its at the bottom of the red light district, 157 different beers (50+ "on tap") & the best Mussels & frites ever.

  2. It is possible to eat out for relatively little if you opt for the fixed price two or three course menu (called the menu) as opposed to choosing individual dishes from the carte.  At lunchtime there ar ususally some very good offers on (the menue sometimes called a formule at lunchtime).

At lunch a good menu may cost 12 euros whereas the same thing will cost 15 euros in the evening.  In the 20 - 30 euro price bracket you should a better choice and from 30 euros the food should approach gourmet standards.

  3. Why pay for snails and horsemeat lobbed at you by some garlic breathed fop who refuses to speak English?

Just bilk it - it's hardly as though the Gendarmes are going to get their act together and catch you before you head back home.

  4. like anywhere.it depends.what type of meal you want.it can be from£7-£? if you want to splash out.it will be expensive.

  9. it really all depends where you eat but you can find some pre fixe menus that are pretty good deals.  for lunch expect to pay between 13-15 euros for a 3 course meal and about 23-26 euros for dinner.  When we are there we normally eat the off the beaten path cafes and where the locals hang out.  there quite a few good ones around champs elysees as long as you dont eat at the main street.  also st. germaine has some good restaurants that are not too pricey.

  10. You know,  I have not been to Paris for years, but when my mother and I went I found out what a clever fox she was:  sometimes we would eat in restaurants ... and other times she just made it so that we bought baguettes,  cheese and fruit and had the hotel send up coffee  or tea to our room ... it made it so much easier,  and in addition,  we got to go woofing around in the markets with the Parisians!   It was tons of fun!

  11. A bloody fortune

  12. you can pay what you like, there's a few places to eat!

check out toptable.co.uk and their paris restaurant link. i booked lunch in a decent but not really flash restaurant on this service which turned out to be good and cost about £60 for 2, including wine.
