What can i put on the top of a snowboard so that it will protect any drawing?

Would it work if i drew with sharpie?

  1. You will have a hard time finding much that will protect artwork on a snowboard as it is subjected to extremes of temperatures and damp, and the resin or acrylic coating already there is impermeable meaning the materials will just sit on top and have no "grab".

    A Sharpie will work but will wear away with use, though you could keep redrawing before the image fades completely.

    I used to make and design skateboards and surfboards, for the surfboards we used acrylic paints coated with a polyurethane varnish used for boats. For the wooden skateboards we used enamel paints (spirit based model paint) which seemed to wok the best, then coated these with another yacht varnish but this time spirit based.

    You can use a varnish, and preperations for boats are great as they are made to withstand wet and cold, but test on a small area first as the material your board is made of and the flex in the board will affect its success.
