Hi i am an aspiring teacher in new york city and i am currently working on my bachelors degree in early childhood education. I'll be heading to graduate school after i graduate from college. When heading into graduate school can i major in anything i desire or do i have to major in early childhood again. The thing is i want to be a kindergarten teacher and i want to develop a certain skill such as painting and drawing in graduate school. I dont want to be like an art kindergarten teacher i just want to be a general teacher. Keep in mine i want to teach in the state of new york. Thank you so much!

  1. While getting your Masters is a great career goal, i have a warning.  Don't go if you are going to have to borrow all the money (or are borrowing a great deal to get your bachelors degree) and earn your Masters degree.  You might want to hold off and teach for a while make sure you like it and save some money before you jump right into that Grad degree.  Honestly you don't really need a masters degree to teach Kindergarten, although it would be great if you want to go into administration later.  If you have to borrow your loan payments will be astronomical compared to your pathetic salary.
