What can i use as a substitute for unsweetened coca powder in a recipe?

  1. It's ground cocoa...which is a plant.  Double check what preservatives they use, but I think you're good to go vegan with cocoa powder.  P.S. I know of no substitute for cocoa powder.


  2. It's totally vegan.

    The above poster is right. Chocolate is 100% vegan until we mess with it. Unsweetened cocoa (even some baking chocolates) are totally vegan. Any dairy or sugar is added by people.

    Some companies make carob chips, if you're looking for a vegan alternative to chocolate chips. But for the powder, no worries!

  3. Nope, totally vegan. It's the milk in most chocolates that makes it non-veg, but cocoa powder is derived from the beans themselves. :)
