What can i use for a screened in patio to keep the sun out?

I am looking for some thing cheap to use to block the sun and the rain from my patio..Half way up is a a wall then the rest is a screen and the un during the day is bad if you are sitting out there and then on rainy days everything gets wet..Help thanks

You could make Roman shades out of tarps, or hang shower liners from hooks above the windows as needed.
