What can i use to stand poles on to make a jump? I have the poles and some barrels at the stables my horse is at, but there arent any jump stands or anything. I cant cut holes in the barrels because they are not mine. They cant be things that are too big because my horse is just learning to jump and doesnt jump very big (about 2ftish).

  1. talk to the stable about it... if any one else jumps have them talk to the stable  too

  2. barrels, hay, buckets, wood stacked up! so on, you can you lots of thing, tree trunks, bricks! so on good luck xoxoxoxo

  3. a pair of cinder blocks makes a durable set of jump ends.

So will a pair of milk crates.

also this  has been asked in Yahoo before.. http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?...

  4. u can use mounting blocks, hay bales, wheelbarrows turned upside down (that might be a little big), the wall of the ring if your inside, strong boxes, rocks (some work others don't), or you can try making your own or buying some.. hope that helped!

  5. Hay bales are good.

You could also stand buckets up, since they aren't very high.

Just be careful. Make sure the pole can fall if the horse clips it. You don't want to build something too strong.

  6. talk to the stables about it

maybe they will let you us the barrels

or make some even tho if will cost some money

  7. Hmmm...I agree with one person on the hay bales. You could also build them.

In the last link there are many diffrent types...some expensive some quite cheap ^^ I LOVE my block jumps because if we go somewhere new to ride and I want my jumps I can just put the blocks in the trailer instead of dragging the standards in xP Good Luck :)

  8. Role the 2 barrels on there sides about a poles length apart straight across from each other and put one pole with one tip touching a barrel and the other on the ground, do the same with the other pole on the other barrel, you now have a good x to jump, that won't be too high. Hope I explained this well enough, you could also line 3 barrels on there sides together but it might be too big for you horse. or put the pole straight across. Good Luck

  9. at my old place i only had barrels, poles, and trash cans.

i put the barrels on their side and set up an xrail or vertical or whatever i wanted. that worked really well. it was about 2ft. you can also stand them up to go higher and make an xrail or vertical.  i used smaller trash cans and flip them upside down and make a xrail or veritcal. its pretty simple. heres an example...

good luck and have fun!! i wouldnt cut hole in them cause if your horse knocks it the whole jump will knock over or your horse might trip if its too sturdy.

  10. Tip the barrels on there sides aand use PVC pipes or poles and make cross rails to begin with. You could also use hay bales instead. Another idea it take to feed buckets and flip them up side down and put the poles over it to make the jumps even smaller =]

  11. you could use hay bales

  12. On the fence put a pole on it, and get a chair or mounting block or bucket and place the other half on that side, or another pole to make a cross rail. (do you get it?) Use the fence if you have an outdoor ring and find something else like these

    Bucket

    Chair

    Mounting block

laying the poles on the barrlel for a cross rail

    Get creative

  13. Barrels, Hay bales, wood,ect...

TIP: If your horse is just learning to jump make sure you use something that will knock down easily if hit.... you don't want to damage the legs!

  14. How about hay bales$
