What can i use to capture footage from a Mini DV Tape?

i have a mini dv tape, my camera messed up so it doesnt work no more, is there some kinda device or adapter that i can put the tape in and capture it without a camcorder or something???

What exactly do you mean "camera messed up so it doesnt work no more".

You either need another miniDV camcorder or you can get a miniDV tape deck (but they are expensive):

Then... your computer needs a firewire port... and you need to use a firewire cable that connects the camcorder's DV port to the computer's firewire port... USB will not work.

In my experience-no. I recommend sending the camera for repairs and taking your Mini DV to a Photo Processing place and ask them to convert your video to your preferred file format. Although there are some adapters out there that claim to provide this function, I have found them to be cheaply manufactured, difficult to use and the playback quality less than acceptable..
