What can i use to clean my ears??

the other day i had to go to the doctor because i had clogged ear wax caused by a q tip. i heard they are bad for you. so what else can i use to clean my ears besides q tips?

dilute hydrogen peroxide with water.  it will soften ear wax and then flush with water.

Ears are naturally self-cleaning. Although it does feel really good to "clean them", it actually does more harm. You have a risk of damaging your ear drums, and packing the wax tightly, and deeper into the ear, which probably caused your clog.

Ear wax is there for a reason. It helps filter dirt and dust, protect the ear from bacteria and infection, and it cleans the ear. The ear naturally cleans itself by having dirt cling onto the wax, while cells migrate the wax to the outer part of the ear.

You don't need to clean the inside of your ear. That job is naturally done for you! It is okay to clean the outer part of your ear, though. Cotton swap packages actually tells you not to insert them, but to clean around the ear.

If you develop  too much ear wax, that's not too great either. Then, you may want to consult a doctor for advice (but do not try cleaning yourself). However, I doubt that is the problem, otherwise your doctor would have recommended something earlier.

Leave those ears alone! :)

And besides, after a while of not "cleaning", you won't feel the need to "clean" them anymore!

Personally, the best way to clean your ears is to use Johnson&Johnson Q tips.

The best time to clean your ears is right when you get out of the shower and you dry off. It feels good and keeps them clean!!
