  1. my mother would get a washcloth rinse it under hot water and hold it over our eye to draw infection out, its free and it works really well. like they say the old remedies are naturally the best.

  2. There are several different types of pink eye. it could be bacterial, viral, or related to allergies, sometimes over the counter drops for allergies will help. But if the problem persists you need to see a doctor to get an antibiotic drop or ointment for your eyes. Also Pink eye is highly contagious, you need to wash your hands, and disinfect, also anything you use to touch your eyes, like a washcloth, should be washed right away, and your pillows etc. You can try to put a warm or cold compress on your eyes, sometimes this helps.

  3. Pink eye can show up when you least expect it, and it is very contagious. There is more than one type of pink eye, and how you treat it depends on the type. If it is bacterial you need antibiotic ointment or drops. There is no particular treatment for viral pink eye. If it is an allergy that is causing your difficulty you may need anti-inflammatories or antihistamines. Frequent hand washing is crucial to prevent spreading the virus or bacteria, depending on which type you have.   There is also something called CLARE, or contact lens induced acute red eye. Sleeping in contacts makes the eye more susceptible to inflammation/infection.

This link gives basic information about pink eye. Best of luck.

  4. You can try washing your eyes with a little Johnson's Baby Shampoo and the hottest water you can stand. Use some OTC pink eye medications. If it doesn't go away in a couple of days then you should see your eye doctor. Because some pink eyes need to be cleared with antibiotic eye drops and/or steroid eye drops. If your eyes are just irritated it may be due to allergies or dry eyes. Use OTC lubricating drops to increase your tear production. I've just gotten over the same thing. It took me over a week, but I had to see my doctor. Good luck. 2D
