  1. Since we are talking about efficiency, we first have to define what the efficiency of a pump is. The efficiency of a pump is the ratio of the power developed by the liquid expelled by the pump over the power introduced to actuate the pump. The efficiency therefore is a non-dimensional quantity as all the units cancel out. Therefore the efficiency is not a function of either RPM or horsepower.

You increase the power or the RPM and you increase the output of the pump but you do not increase its efficiency.

  2. what pump are you asking for?

if it is for water pump increase rpm will be helpful.in any other pumps increase hp will work

  3. *1st you understand the basics of "pumps performance" and

    "duty point".

"German standards DIN 24260, Pt.1 define the duty point as the intersection of the pump H-Q and the system H-Q curves.

*Pl. read a 130 page book at:

*What is the type of pump and fluid you are using?

    for example:

1.In reciprocating pump ,if you use a well designed pulsation damper , then you will get steady line flow and 84% power saving in head lost due to friction.

2.Use the correct selection of pump:

For high head-low flow application, you have to go for reciprocating pump rather positive displacement pump.

3.Take the reading of pump data:

discharge pressure, flow, amperage and check with the pump test data of manufacturer.

4.by trimming impeller you will reduce power but also loss the efficiency and flow.

5.Best is to reduce the losses and use of proper piping design.

  4. if the set-up of the car's engine is on natural or stock tuning, it all now depends on the amount of gas-fuel mixture you feed on it, since every RPM depends on it. current power produced by car also depends on the volume of gas coming in and being burned.

all of the pumps are connected to each other, oil, water pumps, etc. all depends on the gas you feed and the volume of gas coming in.
