  6. Except school?  How about building your brain power through puzzles, reading, etc.  (Guess that's sort of school, too).  You can also become "smarter" by listening to intelligent people.

  7. Intelligence cannot be taught, it is inherited.  Either you have it,or you don't.

  15. Well you could try any of the above but if you want to prove how intelligent you are you need to get some qualifications which means (I am sorry but its true) You need an education. Its never too late to learn

  16. life

  17. School will NOT make you smarter. Time and experience will make you smarter if you learn from either. Specialized fields like medicine require schooling but great thinkers, philosophers, authors,  musicians and inventors were not created through  traditional schooling

  19. well there are alot of things that can make you smart instead of school:your grand parents about the past

                 books

    your parents and much,much more!!!

  20. Read!  Doesn't matter what genre.  Find something you enjoy or are interested in and read about it.  My best students are curious and know how to find out what they want to know.  Also, get enough sleep and eat as well as you can so that your body can concentrate on more than your basic needs.  Lastly, open yourself up to new experiences.  The more places you go,  the more people you meet, the more you will learn about yourself and others.

  21. Trial and error, exploration, exposure to different ideas & cultures, reading, exposure to museums & zoos, interacting with others, games/puzzles.

  22. being tolerant of others keep an open mind and willing to learn from all different people

  23. Have these people that think school is essential to make one smarter attended one for a long period of time? They tend to drain your brain more than anything! Usually a school is just a building with a person that may, and often may not be, an expert in a subject trying to teach you something about the subject. Often they tend to lecture at you for too long: I've had 2 and 3 hour long classes which are definitely too long! And they are not interactive enough they just tend to drone on and on, lecture-style, not the best way for some of us to learn.

I've learned most of what I've learned in life by reading books, writing, asking questions of others, solving problems, nature, nature study, using the computer, and teaching others how to do things. I think I've probably learned only about 10% of what I know at school and the rest from life.

  24. reading and enjoying your life

  25. reading books

  26. Scientifically proven- crossword puzzles. It expands vocabulary, teaches spelling, AND associates it all with patterns. If doesn't even have to be from the New York Times. Even a crossword on celebrities will do the trick.

  27. Reading books and watching educational television, like PBS.

  28. reading, researching, watching documentaries, conversations with different people, memory games, life...

  29. nothing.... intelligence is partially genetic, the rest is up to the motivation of the person, there is no magic "smart pill"

  30. Eat lots of fish every day. the protein will build your brain.  good luck.
