What can my bf do after accidentally dents a truck in dealership where he works at (legal/repair advice)?

Here are the facts:

1. His shift is from 2pm-11pm

2. He's in Washington, D.C.

3. He's been working there for just a month.

4. He's in charge of driving the newly-bought car to its new owner.

5. The damaged truck was the last one of his shift.

6. It (I guess) got dented from the gate.

7. He seems to be doing over time of 1 hour a day.

8. He's 21 years old.

9. It's a Toyota dealership.

10. It's a big damage. the 2 doors on one side are both damaged.

11. He already confessed that it's his fault.

  1. Since he was driving a company vehicle, the company will need to file a claim with their insurance to get the car repaired.  

    Have they ever explained what would happen in a situation like this when he was hired?

    I'm pretty sure the dealership will take care of this one.  


  2. No doubt about it.  The dealer is responsible if B/F was working at the time and is an employee and not a contractor.  Don't let the dealer tell him that he must pay !

  3. Since he was working at the time, the dealer's insurance should cover the damage, but he'll have to find another job.
