  1. In the UK local by-laws list the jobs that 13 year olds can do. No 13 year old can work in a job that doesn't appear on the list. Local by-laws may place further restrictions on the hours and conditions of work and the nature of employment. For help and advice or to apply for a work permit contact the education department of your local council or education welfare service.

The address below will list your local education service:

    http://www.dfes.gov.uk/leagateway/index....

    Children may not work:

without an employment permit issued by the education department of the local council

in any industrial setting eg factory, industrial site etc

    during school hours

before 7.00 am or after 7.00 pm

for more than one hour before school

for more than four hours without taking a break of at least one hour

in any occupations prohibited by local by-laws or other legislation eg pubs, betting shops

in any work that may be harmful to their health, well-being or education

without having a two week break from any work during the school holidays in each calendar year

During term time children may work a maximum of 12 hours per week, of which:

a maximum of two hours on school days and Sundays

a maximum of five hours on Saturdays for 13 to 14 year olds, or eight hours for 15 to 16 year olds

During school holidays 13 to 14 year olds may work a maximum of 25 hours per week, of which:

a maximum of five hours on weekdays and Saturdays

a maximum of two hours on Sunday

To be honest I also think you would be better off if she could do some babysitting or help around the house for money (washing the car, clearing the understairs cupboard etc).  Another idea might be for her to have a clear out and sell some of her old things at a local car boot or table top sale.  Its not a constant flow of cash but it might help out for now.

You could also think if you have any family or friends who run their own businesses and might need an extra pair of hands occasionally.

It may be worth taking her to visit your local job centre or a recruitment agency as even if they can't help she would be able to hear for herself the reasons and she will know you have helped her out as much as possible!

  2. i used http://cash4teen.blogspot.com/ and it really helped me out alot (im 13)

  3. well depends where u live. like my state u have to be 15 1/2 but if she couldn't find an actualy job [since she'll be only 14] then she can do chores also called allowance. u know she cleans up around hte house and u pay her. or if ur unable have her babysit. do u know any neighbors that have kids? offer to be a babysitter to them. hopes this helps.
